First Look: Boston Whaler 190 Montauk
Boston Whaler has Reinvented the Classic Montauk
The new Boston Whaler 190 Montauk elevates the beloved classic with new features and enhancements. Retaining all the time-tested utility and easy operation of the original Montauks, the new 190 excels for fishing, watersports and beyond. Every inch of space is maximized in this nimble center console model, meaning there’s plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy the ride, whatever the day may hold.
“We’re pleased to introduce the new 190 and 210 Montauks, bringing cutting-edge capability to these beloved classics,” said Jeff Vaughn, Whaler Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service. “In reinventing the Montauks, we strived to preserve the clean simplicity, effortless utility and total reliability that have always been defining traits of the series. At the same time, the new 190 and 210 — like the 150 and 170 — have been redesigned from the keel up to ensure maximum versatility, optimal use of space, and the right mix of features and options for today’s boaters.”
The new 190 and 210 Montauks feature increased storage space throughout, including an integrated forward fishbox/storage compartment and a bow locker with fiberglass cover, both with overboard drainage. Seating has been enhanced as well; cushioned aft quarter seats are now standard on the 210 and optional on the 190, and both models feature a reversible pilot seat with locking backrest and storage below.
Underway, boaters are treated to a remarkably soft, safe, dry ride, courtesy of a precision-engineered hull and Whaler’s unrivaled Unibond™ construction. Rugged “hose-and-go” utility and effortless operation make these the perfect craft for fishing, exploring and pleasure boating with family members of all ages; the Montauks are also well-suited to yacht tendering duties. Captains from novice to expert will appreciate the intuitive helm console with stainless steel accents. Reliable, efficient Mercury® power options are available up to a 150-hp XL EFI Mercury FourStroke engine on the 190, and a 200-hp XL L6 DTS Mercury Verado® on the 210, both available with hydraulic steering.
Each Montauk is readily customizable through a purposeful array of options. For anglers, the optional Fishing Package adds a 72-quart (190 MT) or 94-quart (210 MT) cooler seat with cushion and backrest, tackle drawers, and added console-mounted rod holders. Several state-of-the-art Raymarine® electronics packages are available to enhance navigation and fish-finding capabilities.
The redesign of all four Montauks was timed to coincide with the company’s 60th anniversary, and as such all are available with a Teak Package that lends extra “vintage” style. On the 210, this includes teak flooring on the swim ladder and helm footrests.
As a standard feature, each model includes a galvanized trailer with swing tongue, disc brakes and LED lights for safe, seamless transport and easy storage.
“The new Montauks deliver true turnkey operation, helping boaters get out on the water quickly and easily, and helping to ensure they enjoy the experience,” said Whaler President Nick Stickler. “The 190 and 210 Montauk, like the 150 and 170 they are joining, demonstrate the ease and functionality that Montauk has always been about. And now they reflect the latest in design, engineering and technology, demonstrating what the Whaler name has meant and will always mean, for the past 60 years, the next 60 years and beyond.”

Greg W In a past comment I attached to First Look, I criticized the choices of boats being featured. I stated that OTW was featuring to many hundred thou boats. To quote Harry to Loyd, “you went and totally redeemed your self”.
The 190 Montauk is a perfect reflection of boats for OTW constant readers.
As much as I love my current 18 C.C. this is the boat I will replace it with. Well proven by many adventures sport anglers out in deep sea waters and with a shallow enough draft to fish flats or in close to pull striped bass bass from rocky shore lines.
Great boat great choice for First Look! -
Mike I have an 2018 170 Montauk. I couldn’t be happier with my choice of boat.

Jim Morsek Mike, what’s your reasoning on that comment?

Jim Clarke I owned a 17ft Montauk for 23 years, Loved it. Travelled from Maine to North Carolina and St. Lawrence River. Kept it’s value over the years. Paid 12K -upgraded 70hp to 90hp for 2K and sold it 23 years later for 9K. Went to 19ft. Newport. Hated it. (Before the 19ft and 21ft Montauks were available.) Went to 25ft Everglades. Great boat but prefer the 21ft Montauk I have now. – Great boat for all round aquatic activities.

Capt. Chris I have a 1971, 13’er w/ and old 25 Johnny on it.
There has never been a boat like the Whaler, and I have been ALL OVER in mine !
From up river til we had toget out & push, to 25 miles offshore (with a bigger boat nearby) and caught tons & tons of fish – also taught a bunch’a us to water ski, run boats safely, and to live adventurously ! S/N 2A-2451 When I sell my 35′ cruiser, I’ll go to the 21 & keep on fishing ! Chris on the Cape -
barry schiel Had 1987 16,7 for 23 yrs. Mercury 2 stroke 90 Salt water fishing off boca raton . Was great boat until I saw 2018 170.Wound up selling 87 boat and buying 2019 170 with 90 mercury 4 stroke. Wow what a fantastic change. Smooth riding ,quiet motor, stingy on fuel, just overall a great boat. Feels like I stepped up to 19 foot and not a 17 montauk.Love the fish box, fuel under deck and live well. Top notch hardware everywhere.Bought split bow rail from boston whaler and installing it when I get up the nerve to drill holes in my new boat.
