Hickory Shad for Giant Stripers | S3 E08
Accompanied by Captain Mark Anderson of Kingfisher Charters, Chris Megan and Andy Nabreski start the day catching 1- to 2-pound hickory shad for the livewell. Nicknamed the “poor man’s tarpon” for their aerial displays, the shad make catching bait an enjoyable practice in its own right. Once the crew secures enough live bait, it’s off to the bassin’ grounds, where a treble hook is worked through the nose of the shad and it is sent to the depths. Using such large baits prevents smaller stripers from getting the hook, so each striper Andy and Chris hook is sure to be a respectable one.
