Ocean fluke fishing is bountiful, big bluefish are all over the north shore, and schools of small bait file into the south shore as hardtails approach.

Gator blues gorge on bay anchovies and peanut bunker in the Sound, stripers bite in the back bays on both shores, and Spanish mackerel invade the south shore surf.
Stripers and blues are piled in the L.I. Sound rips, fluke fishing is good in south shore bays, and bluefin of all sizes linger at the mid-shore tuna grounds.
Sheepshead are caught around south shore bridges, bluefish blitz on peanut bunker on the north shore, and fluke fishing remains steady out front with plenty of shorts in the bays.
Keeper fluke and cobia are caught in the back bays, schoolie stripers and snappers hit the salt marshes at night, and south shore bunker pods host sharks and larger cobia.
Cobia are caught in the back bays, good mixed-bag bottom fishing continues, and some quality weakfish are caught in the Sound.
Bluefish and sharks stalk bunker schools on the beaches, cobia are around in greater numbers, and big sea bass are caught on both shores.
